Prepared Parenthood of Greater Rochester Concept Paper
Mission:
To become the premier human
service agency helping families in the Greater Rochester area by providing
consistently superior services, both in quality of care and integrity of
educational content.
Vision:
A thriving community
agency, committed to excellence in every way, that provides comprehensive
educational and direct services in responsible human sexuality, reproductive
health, constructive family dynamics and parenting for individuals, families,
churches, schools, businesses and civic groups in the Greater Rochester area
and serves as a model for others who wish to see similar services available in
their communities.
Beliefs:
1. We
believe that intact, functional families are the basic building blocks of a
healthy society.
2. We
believe that wholesome marriages, between committed men and women, offer the
most secure basis available for building intact, functional families capable of
nurturing and raising children who will mature into constructive adults.
3. We
believe that parenthood is not only one of the most common but one of the
highest and most challenging responsibilities that people, both single and
married, can be called to fulfill.
4. We
believe that society as a whole has a vested interest in fostering,
strengthening, and preserving family integrity through supporting marriage and
parenthood.
5. We
believe that preparing for marriage and responsible parenthood is one of the
primary tasks of childhood and adolescence.
6. We
believe that there are time-honored truths about human relationships and the
human condition that can be passed on successfully from one generation to the
next.
7. We
believe that human freedom is fostered not only by the availability of choices
but by training and education that develop the capacity to discern and enter
into life-giving choices and to turn and recover from the consequences of
ill-advised choices.
