SWOT Analysis

Strengths:

Knowledge, Experience, Passionate vision, Committed doctors and staff, Location and facility, Solid infrastructure, Already open and in operation >25 years in community, Patient base and goodwill, Dr. Morehouse's reputation, HBI relationship with established 501(c)3, Energy/commitment from Board, Local network of Christian physicians (MCCF), Strong neighborhood churches, National support from CMDA, Care Net, Focus on the Family and CCHF networks.

Weaknesses:

Dr. Morehouse wearing too many hats, Lack of funding/development program, Lack of shared operational Board vision, Loss of ED and need for administrative support, Lack of legal expertise, Only 2 docs, Not yet licensed as a CHC, No counseling/social services, No measurement/analysis tracking, Limited breadth and depth of community awareness, Lack of broad church support, Slow pace of patient care.

Opportunities:

Need in Crescent (growth), Federal support of faith-based initiatives, New Board members, Community support, Network of Christian physicians, Model faith-based care, Expand community goodwill/impact, Faith-based training (medical students and lay counselors), SWAN Alliance, Unmet community needs in crisis pregnancy, counseling obesity, mental health, drugs, etc.

Threats:

Difficulty becoming licensed due to liberal NYS legal code and mindset and potential local turf wars, OB privileges at hospitals (pro-abortion orientation), Coverage if one doc leaves, Difficulty attracting and being able to hire qualified docs, Spiritual warfare, Empty building next door with neighborhood drug dealing and gangs.
