The Latest News from His Branches

The Pregnancy Care Center of Rochester (PCC)

On December 3, 2004, 30 potential volunteers gathered in the conference room at His Branches to discuss the possibilities of joining in the effort to establish the new PCC. We were overwhelmed by the response and are thrilled with the level of interest and passion for this issue. In January we will hold our very first training for the new PCC in which anyone interested in volunteering as a counselor will be able to receive formalized training through the help and leadership of Dee Skelton and the Palmyra Care Net office.  Dates for the training are as follows:

January 8, 15, 22, 29 (Saturdays) and all times are 12-4 pm.  The location will be at His Branches unless otherwise noted.

Other training dates are already being discussed so stay in touch if you miss the first one. Please call 235-9000 with any questions and we look forward to hearing from all of you!

The disturbing reality that is driving our passion is that 1 in 2.5 reported pregnancies (388 reported) in the zip code 14619 (our zip code!) ends in abortion. That's nearly 50%! The number is staggering and the surrounding zip codes are not much better. As an organization that stands for pro-life, represents Christ in our community, and has the experience and ability to address this issue with medically sound services and advice, we want to make a difference. The larger dream is to grow into a comprehensive service that addresses the needs of families, adults and children in a program that is an alternative to the leading abortion providers in the region. This will include the counseling and support services that have been in plan for several months now and will also rely on a growing network of strong and supportive ministries in the neighborhood. With the trainings in January, we expect to be available for service in February with a plan to ramp up for a July hiring of our first paid staff.

If you have interest in this area or want to help in a tangible way, please contact us or you can even donate online!  Give us a call as soon as possible to discuss your alternatives!

New parking lot, green space completed!

The development of our parking space is finally FINISHED! Ground was broken Saturday 8/21/04 and we declared victory on November 1!  We have been waiting for over three years to see this project come together!  The final mural as pictured below will not be started until spring.  However, we have a brand new door, new lighting and a new parking lot from which to enter and exit the building. Praise the Lord for His will being accomplished in this process.  And, the entire project is paid for!  Praise the Lord for His provision!!!  If anyone is interested in using our newly accessible conference room for meetings, please do not hesitate to give us a call! We have done most of the landscaping (although it still looks a little brown) and look forward to seeing many new tulips and daffodils come up in the spring.

One idea for our proposed mural

We would like to specifically recognize the donated material and time offered by Countryside Flower Farm, The Garden Factory, Susan Morehouse's brother Tom Lowry, and Davey Tree and Landscape.  Thank you as well to all those who offered their prayers along the way.  The finished product is great!

Prayer Chapel Completed!!

Under the passion and leadership of Susan Morehouse, the prayer chapel at His Branches has finally reached completion. We were wonderfully blessed to have a volunteer group known as Jacobs Ladder come and put in recessed lighting and do some final painting for us. The Chapel is a cornerstone aspect to what is being developed as part of the strategic prayer initiative of His Branches, Inc.

Grace Family Medicine Associates News

Under the guidance of our new Executive Director, Scott Sittig, we are actively in the process of establishing the services offered by the physicians at Grace Family Medicine Associates as a Diagnostic and Treatment Facility under Article 28 of New York's Public Health Law, a designation that will help us to expand the scope of the clinical care we offer to better serve the needs of the community. The doctors in the practice are at full capacity and yet are receiving multiple requests for expansion of their services to new patients.  In conjunction with a major transition to a new software package that keeps charts entirely electronically, the office is really "hopping"!  Please pray that we will have God's wisdom and favor as we pursue the Article 28 license and make decisions for how to grow and expand our services. As of the end of 2004, the application will be in the hands of the State for review by the various departments and we ask for the Lord's favor with each and every one!

Intercessory Prayer Meetings

Monthly intercessory prayer meetings of the Tree of Life Community are held on the third Wednesday morning of each month from 8:00 to 9:00 am in our main conference room at 275 Warwick Avenue. Please come and invite prayer partners who have a burden for city ministry.

We are beginning to work toward a vision in which we see the Greater Rochester area fulfilling its destiny in our day by becoming a community redeemed by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that a refined prayer strategy is being called for along with a host of committed intercessors. If you are interested in committing to this endeavor, please let us know.

A Great Year in IAM Ministry in Peru

Chris and Jack Briscoe

We recently received a very encouraging letter from Chris Briscoe about the work in Peru. As she reports, "Eliana has established the Iquitos Amazon Mission to restore families, bringing in volunteers, missionaries, pastors and doctors to go out to the villages and the native Indian communities throughout the Amazon river basin. She has hosted volunteers from Peru, the United States, and even other countries. All the preaching and teaching of both health care and bringing the hope of the gospel to them has delivered to God a thanksgiving from many people there." Check out the links above for the whole story!
