The Latest News from His Branches

Care Net Crisis Pregnancy Center

His Branches has begun the development of a long-term vision for impacting families in our community.  The initial phase of the concept is being fostered by the passion and dream of a local church to start a Care Net affiliated crisis pregnancy and resource center.  The design is for the office to be located in our building at 342 Arnett Boulevard and work in tandem with the medical staff and Doctors of Grace Family Medicine.  Grants have been submitted to local foundations and conversations have begun with Focus on the Family towards purchasing an ultrasound machine in order that the Center could become a medical crisis pregnancy center right from the outset.

The disturbing reality that is driving our passion is that 1 in 2.2 reported pregnancies (388 reported) in the zip code 14619 (our zip code!) ends in abortion. That's nearly 50%! The number is staggering and the surrounding zip codes are not much better.  As an organization that stands for pro-life, represents Christ in our community, and has the experience and ability to address this issue with medically sound services and advice, we want to make a difference.  The larger dream is to grow into a comprehensive service that addresses the needs of families, adults and children in a program that is an alternative to the leading abortion providers in the region.  This will include the counseling and support services that have been in plan for several months now and will also rely on a growing network of strong and supportive ministries in the neighborhood.  Stay tuned for more developments!

If you have interest in this area or want to help in a tangible way, please contact us or you can even donate online!  Give us a call as soon as possible to discuss your alternatives!

New parking, green space, and a mural!

The development of our parking space is finally under way! Ground was broken Saturday 8/21/04!  We have been waiting for over three years to see this project come together!  Our contractor, Spoleta Construction, assures us that all will be finished within a few weeks. The final mural as pictured below will probably not be finished until spring.  However, we will have a brand new door, new lighting and a new parking lot from which to enter and exit the building.  Praise the Lord for His will being accomplished in this process.

Jesus Rally Enjoyed by Many!

Under the start of a cloudy day, the Jesus Rally ended bathed in sunshine and truly in the presence of the Lord!  Jerry Wilkins (left-this year's coordinator) honored Mike Salamone (right-event's founder and ongoing inspiration) as part of the festivities.  Above right, Project Neutral Zone offered some compelling drama that spoke to the hearts and minds of all those in attendance.  Miracles were performed in the Prayer Tent under the prayerful leadership of Al Allen (including someone who was released from the use of crutches on the spot!).  There was a lot of time devoted to prayer and intercession amongst the broader group in attendance and significant time given to prayer for Israel and the Middle East.  Toward the end of the day, Joe Askins and several other key leaders in the United States Strategic Prayer Network (USSPN) for New York (USSPNNY) stood and delivered some dramatic declarations and prophetic words for New York State, the Western NY region and for the City of Rochester in particular.  We live in challenging and yet exciting times and this event allowed us to be reminded that our opportunities to praise the Lord and hear His words are not to be squandered or taken lightly.  It was a blessed day with significant impact in ways that will be made known in the days and months ahead.

His Branches, Inc. has had the privilege of serving as the Fiduciary agent for the Jesus Rally and our Executive Director was added to the steering committee for this event.  It is our strong belief that out of this event will flow the passion and energy to launch more strategically our prayer initiative for the community!  Stay posted to the ongoing developments...

Institute to Sponsor a Community Conference

Roberts Wesleyan College’s Institute for Social Entrepreneurship is pleased to host the 2004 Building Healthy and Sustainable Neighborhoods Conference, to be held at the college on Thursday, September 30th.  The conference will bring together organizations, professionals, faith-based partners, residents, faculty and students interested in transforming communities.

The one-day conference is designed to share working models for building healthy and sustainable neighborhoods, including commercial areas, and will feature innovative and entrepreneurial strategies, development tools and techniques, and true stories that you can use to transform your commercial area and community.

In addition to presenting best practices in community development and newer concepts, the conference provides an opportunity to network with others in the field and to hear from experts about the future of development in communities. Our keynote speaker, Dr. John M. Perkins, President, John M. Perkins Foundation for Reconciliation and Development, Inc, will address the future direction of community building.

Grace Family Medicine Associates News

Under the guidance of our new Executive Director, Scott Sittig, we are actively in the process of establishing the services offered by the physicians at Grace Family Medicine Associates as a Diagnostic and Treatment Facility under Article 28 of New York's Public Health Law, a designation that will help us to expand the scope of the clinical care we offer to better serve the needs of the community. The doctors in the practice are at full capacity and yet are receiving multiple requests for expansion of their services to new patients.  In conjunction with a major transition to a new software package that keeps charts entirely electronically, the office is really "hopping"!  Please pray that we will have God's wisdom and favor as we pursue the Article 28 license and make decisions for how to grow and expand our services.

Intercessory Prayer Meetings

Monthly intercessory prayer meetings of the Tree of Life Community are held on the third Wednesday morning of each month from 8:00 to 9:00 am in our main conference room at 275 Warwick Avenue.  Please come and invite prayer partners who have a burden for city ministry.

We are beginning to work toward a vision in which we see the Greater Rochester area fulfilling its destiny in our day by becoming a community redeemed by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that a refined prayer strategy is being called for along with a host of committed intercessors.  If you are interested in committing to this endeavor, please let us know.
