INSTITUTE?
Students have the opportunity to:
* Participate in paid or class credit-based internships and receive hands-on
or practical experience in their areas of study or interest
* Participate on special project teams and receive exposure, experience &
consulting income on fee-based projects
* Function in cross-functional teams consisting of other college disciplines
on highly visible community based projects
* Attend training sessions sponsored by the Institute (free of charge)
* Receive technical assistance in launching or enhancing their own business
or venture
* Network and share job portfolios containing published reports, studies and
special projects with employers, community leaders and professionals in
their field of study or interest

Faculty and staff have the opportunity
to:
* Engage classes to participate in class credit-based internships
* Use the outreach site to conduct classes or host meetings
* Serve as members of special project teams while receiving exposure &
experience
* Engage in professional research projects and prepare manuscripts
* Participate in presentations and conferences as guests or presenters
* Participate in highly visible community based projects
* Participate on cross-functional teams consisting of students & faculty
from other Divisions
* Attend training sessions sponsored by the Institute (free of charge)
* Network with community leaders and professionals in their field of study
WHAT ARE THE CURRENT PROJECTS THAT THE INSTITUTE IS
FOCUSED ON?
An ongoing list of Institute sponsored projects can be accessed through the
Institute's website (www.robertsinstitute.org) which provides a brief
project profile containing a project descriptions, potential roles for
students & faculty, desired outcomes, hours of commitment and if the
internship is paid and / or a class requirement.
Student and faculty teams can work out of the Institute for Social
Entrepreneurship's outreach site / headquarters located on Arnett Boulevard
and Warwick Avenue in the City of Rochester. The site is fully equipped with
staff support, computers, copier, color and black & white printers, Internet
access, business, social work and community development software tools and
meeting rooms.
HOW CAN THE COMMUNITY BENEFIT FROM THE INSTITUTE?
Individuals and community groups have
the opportunity to:
* Attend visioning, training and capacity building sessions sponsored by the
Institute
* Increase networking & collaboration with the Roberts Wesleyan College
faculty and students
* Use volunteer or paid student interns and faculty teams to conduct
research assignments or consulting projects
* Increase partnerships & collaborations with other social entrepreneurs in
leveraging assets and resources.
* Use the outreach site for hosting meetings and small classes
Access available geographic information systems and mapping software to
access market research reports and data
* Gain access to information on customized Bachelors and Masters programs
available at Roberts Wesleyan College as well as certificate based programs.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SERVICES DOES THE INSTITUTE PROVIDE?
Institute-sponsored seminars and events.
Fee-based consulting and research services/projects are available to
individuals, agencies, businesses and governments interested in finding
innovative solutions to social problems. This is accomplished by convening a
team of highly skilled faculty and students to assist in the development of
a New Venture Development, Special Consulting Engagement or a Market
Research Project.
Fees for special projects are intended to cover the costs of utilizing
faculty (consultant) expertise, advanced graduate-level student interns
(associates), research data, and report development. The role of faculty /
consultant is to provide oversight, expertise and analysis of the over all
project or phase. The use of student interns / associate makes each project
more affordable to the client and experiential learning for our students.
HOW ARE ACTIVITIES COORDINATED?
The Institute staff (David Dey, Director and Elizabeth
Specht, Site Coordinator) will provide coordination of all activities. The
Institute's Director will set up a consultation to discuss the scope of
potential projects along with tangible outcomes to be arrived at from
engagements as well as ongoing project management. The staff at the
