Institute Programs The Institute strategy includes the following program components: Community Outreach and Service Learning Internship Initiative that supports local not-for profit organizations, community development initiatives in targeted areas in the City of Rochester. This is accomplished through internships that train and prepare graduate and undergraduate students by linking them with community development projects. The community also benefits by receiving customized services, capacity training and research provided by highly skilled students and faculty in the following areas:
Community Development Institute that provides community development organizations, not-for-profit agencies, small businesses, and potential business owners with workshops that will enhance their core business and social development skills and knowledge. The quarterly training and capacity seminars are designed to address the most crucial issues facing businesses, commercial areas and organizations that provide assistance to businesses. Youth Entrepreneurship strategy to begin developing successful young people before they enter college. The Free Enterprise Cooperative Education Venture is an existing partnership between Roberts Wesleyan College and The Charles Finney School. The second part of the strategy is to provide mentoring support to programs that provide entrepreneurship training to youth. Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) that provides support and involvement in community development and social development outreach efforts, including the Youth Entrepreneurship and Community Outreach and Service Learning Internships. SIFE is a nonprofit organization that has been successfully implemented on more than 1400 college campuses worldwide, including Roberts Wesleyan. The group's annual activities include participation in volunteer activities; hosting of seminars and annual entrepreneurship competitions. Entrepreneurship Resource Center that will serve a key support system for the Community Outreach and Service Learning Internship Initiative. The Institute also provides consulting and research services to agencies, businesses and governments interested in finding innovative solutions to social problems.
