Secretary’s Report

The secretary’s report was received as written.

Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer’s Report was reviewed. On a motion by G. Fadner and seconded by W. Morehouse the report was accepted. It was reported that David Hoselton made a 2001 donation pledge of $10,000 to His Branches. We praised God for this gift. The loan from Dr. Morehouse will be repaid when the gift arrives. Dr. Morehouse reported that HSBC Bank approved a $170,000.00 mortgage on the Arnett Boulevard property. It will be for 15 years at a fixed rate of about 7%.

Missions Report

    S. Morehouse reported that B. Timgrin is going back to Israel. A prayer list for her was distributed.

Grace Family Medicine

Dr. Morehouse reported that the medical practice is very busy. The medical records are being computerized. This job is almost complete. There are staffing needs. The following are needed: a maintenance person, someone for the desk, and an LPN. They are looking for another provider. This provider could work with Crisis Pregnancy Services (CPS) as well.

It was suggested New Life Fellowship Church should be contacted to determine if a maintenance person was available there. L. Erb said he would check at Roberts Wesleyan maintenance people.

The Elim health service is going well.

GVSCDA Report

    No report.

President’s Report

    J. Harden and Dr. C Chang described the medical model for CPS. This involves adding medical services such as free ultrasounds to the CPS services. Dr. Chang is considering becoming involved with CPS. J. Harden noted that the rate of babies saved raises from 20% for the non-medical model to 69% when the medical model is used. There are two options under New York law. First hire a nurse who is supervised by a medical doctor. The proximity between the doctor and the nurse was not clear. The other option was to have the doctor hire and pay a nurse practitioner who would work for CPS. CPS would pay for overhead and training. CPS is looking for locations for how to do the medical model. CPS is also looking for means of handling funds and payments for services. The startup costs are a concern. CPS’s Board likes the idea of the medical model. A task force will be formed between CPS and His Branches. Possible His Branches members are Dr. C. Chang, K. Webb, and Dr. Morehouse. CPS will appoint people from their organization. The rules for supervision for those doing the ultrasounds need to be determined. There are also questions with respect to the optimum location. Roberts Wesleyan College is interested in placing social work students with CPS and Grace Family Medicine. They need to identify a MSW to supervise the students. This would cost $2000-2500 per school year.

    S. Morehouse and Dr. Chang made a presentation to the Christian Medical Students Association. It was about courtship and marriage. They were invited back to do another presentation. A Christian Physician’s Guide was developed by the Morehouses. A Christian Physicians breakfast was held last fall and another is scheduled for this month.

Old Business

    L. Erb reported that Roberts Wesleyan is looking for funding for a city center. The business department is looking for sources of grant money. L. Erb is the director of the Center for Christian Social Ministry.

The next meeting will be February 5, 2002 at 7:30 AM at 374 Wellington Avenue.
