A new perspective

We awoke Wednesday morning

to a completely unpredicted new view of the future, potentially both ominous and promising. For those of us who are believers in a Sovereign God, it can be viewed either as a troubled God giving our nation what it’s asked for and deserves or a loving God answering our prayers in an unusual way. Either way, we’re in a crisis as defined below and are definitely going to need His help going forward.

The Chinese word for “crisis” (simplified Chinese: 危机; traditional Chinese: 危機; pinyin: wēijī) is frequently invoked in Western motivational speaking as being composed of two Chinese characters respectively signifying “danger” and “opportunity.”

What we’ve just witnessed is a significant grass-roots move of the electorate, especially non-urban voters, toward the Republican platform, which is remarkably conservative (see comparison here).

The Facebook Effect

According to a provocative article posted by Tobias Rose-Stockwell on November 11 entitled How We Broke Democracy “Our technology has changed this election and is now undermining our ability to empathize with the world.” Click here to read his brief thesis to see how much you agree with his insights.

What’s next

Where we go from here is up to us and God. Let’s pray that we can come together and make the best of the troubled times we live in. God bless you all!
