Bishop Curry’s word

The one lasting message of the royal wedding Long after the glossy memories of the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faded, people will recall the sermon by Bishop Michael Curry on the power of love to transform the world. It was a stunner, unexpected by the millions who were watching — and probably by most of those in the chapel that day! Curry’s remarks, which lasted all of 14 minutes, brought us back to what matters as Christians, the idea that the essential teaching of Jesus has the power to transform the world. They represent the future of Christian thinking,...

Honoring Martin Luther King

Today, April 4, marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., and the Board, staff, and supporters of His Branches will join others in our community and across the nation in paying tribute. The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, built around the hotel where King was shot, is asking that bells toll 39 times to honor the number of years King lived and pay homage to his legacy. Remembering Roy King

It is with deep sadness mingled with joy and gratitude that we share the news that our longtime supporter, prayer warrior, Board member, and friend Roy Wheatley King graduated from this earth to his heavenly home on Friday morning, January 5. We had been friends and colleagues in serving Rochester’s underprivileged citizens since the early years of the founding of His Branches back in the 1970s when Roy was in practice as a local attorney, supported in his office by his wife Lucille. Later on when Roy was appointed to the bench as a judge by Mayor Johnson, we collaborated in the...

New Year 2018

2017 has been a great year for our internal growth as a ministry to individuals, families, and the neighborhoods that surround us. We’ve made great strides in patient care, counseling, community outreach, and strategic planning. After a successful push and FQHC site visit in December, we’re poised to move forward in the coming year. Now...
