Rotations & Shadowing

His Branches offers limited spots for clinical rotations and shadowing. We accept medical students, physician associate and nurse practitioner students for rotations.

Rotations

During their rotation, students work primarily at our 19th Ward location and see patients with a designated preceptor. We serve a diverse patient population and have a bilingual clinical team. A rotation at our site would be particularly interesting for anyone interested in work in urban areas or with Spanish speaking populations.

Want to know a little bit more about who we are and what we do? Watch this brief video to hear about the experience of one of our patient families told by Brittany herself, and learn more about our mission and team from our Executive Director, Mike.

How to Apply:

Please complete the following form if you are interested in a rotation. We also have limited availability for shadow experiences for those who are on a pre-med route or who are interested in learning more about a career in healthcare. If you have any questions regarding internships, contact Kate at kpagenkemper@hisbranches.org.

In order to complete a rotation we will need the following items:

  • Proof of vaccinations (including current PPD, flu vaccine, and COVID vaccination including booster where applicable)

  • Proof of liability insurance from your school

  • A signed rotation agreement with your school

  • Copy of your current CV (optional but encouraged)

“It is an extremely rewarding experience with people who love what they do. They are all there to improve the health of the community around them. I learned that all it takes is a little bit of effort from the right people to make a difference for a community.”

- T.J., SUNY Brockport Healthcare Administration

"Everyone here is so kind and dedicated to their mission of serving the community, and all the departments are very connected, so I've been able to learn things from everyone, not just the departments I'm specifically working with."

-Heidi, Roberts Wesleyan University, Psychology Program

“Being able to witness the truly unique community both between staff and patients and amongst the staff themselves as a care providing team was something that really inspired me. Through observing the interactions of the providers with patients, I learned that empathetic listening can be just as valuable to a patient as the prescription of medical care.”
