Our 2024 Annual Report is Here!

Building for the Future

Creating a healthier future regularly requires digging up the past. Through several years of planning, praying, and taking all the necessary steps to move forward with construction at our 19th Ward clinic, we broke ground in March! This project led by the teams of MRB Group, DGA Builders, and Turner Engineering, will focus on increasing the number of medical and mental health counseling spaces, technological upgrades to staff offices, as well as updating both clinical and community spaces throughout. Funding for this project was awarded to us in 2022 as a part of the Omnibus Project and New York State Transformation funding.

If you’d like sneak peek of our spaces while under construction, we will have several limited opportunities for supporters like you to take a Hard Hat Tours beginning in June. Sign-ups are available HERE.

We’re thankful for our partners who have been inspecting, tracing, and creating spaces on the drawing board that will allow us to continue providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare for our neighbors. This project not only communicates the dignity and worth of our patients who will receive care here, but also the value of an oft neglected neighborhood. New spaces and fresh faces brings life to neighborhoods like ours. Please continue to pray for us as our team adjusts to limitations and changes in our space expected to last about 8 months.

Friendraising & Fundraising

The health of our community is about so much more than clinical health care. In January, we welcomed a special guest for an evening of delicious food and engaging conversation with author and local journalist, Justin Murphy. Justin walked us through some key topics from his book, Your Children Are Very Greatly in Danger, and gave attendees an opportunity to discuss the impact that racism has had on neighborhood design, educational systems, and health of our neighbors here in Rochester.

Participants received a hot Chicken & Waffles dinner provided by our neighbor Norm, at the Arnett Cafe, and a copy of Justin’s book.

We hope to offer more community conversation opportunities to our Roots Members and supporters in the months to come.

But if I shrink before the immenseness of the problem now, my children will find it even harder.

Gathering with our friends, enjoying live music, hearing stories from our patients, staff, and supporters, all while raising support for mental health was exactly what we did at our second HBI x 3HB Fundraiser night on February 6.

That evening we were able to raise $1000 to help Top Us Off for our Light the Way mental health campaign to help us reach our goal, ensuring the funds necessary to expand our mental health program.

We’re excited to announce that as of April 2025, thanks to a number of donations, we reached our goal of $50,000!

Since the event in February, we have launched our Psychotherapy program, which is fully booked, and started providing pediatric (under age 12) mental health care. We are excited to add two more mental health rooms to our 19th Ward location this fall, and two more with our future Beechwood expansion. Your financial support during this campaign and beyond will impact many lives, young and old, creating access and growing hope for better mental health care.
